I did that a few years ago. I started my gift knitting in january and by christmas they ALL had handknitted gifts, but those last few items really sucked my will to live, let alone knit.
Now I knit one gift per year. I select the lucky winner and everyone else gets something bought or a gift card. There's only one baby in the family and baby knitting is fun and easy so guess who always gets the sole knitted gift?

I never knit gifts hehehe, and if I do one for someone I don't tell them so incase I frog it's not a big deal!
