Poll

What's your favorite way to join yarns? I haven't found one that I really like.

Opinions?

I kinda like the Russian join for lots of stuff:

Oh, if it's 100% NON-superwash wool or other feltable fibers, the spit splice works great.

Good poll. I will have to look up the russian join. I just usually finish at the end of a row and then sew in the ends afterwards. The spit slice I am going to have play around with more. I always find it a little too time consuming but then I just found out I wasn't doing it correctly, I wasn't trimming away some of the fibre from each side. I will be interested to see the other comments on this.

Oh and any ideas for joining yarns for lace work. That is something I need some help with and I didn't realise until now!

Spit splice for wool only, ideally 2-ply (least fiddly). Otherwise sometimes I just overlap the ends by about 6-7 inches and knit them both together for several stitches, somewhere in the middle of the knitting - I don't do this only-at-the-seams BS. You usually can't tell in the finished product, and it virtually eliminates the need to sew in ends.

Ooh, I'm trying that Russian join next time. The sox are superwash merino so no spit splices for me.

Thanks, y'all!
